Shusha: Shusha is implementing a model of urban planning based on cultural heritage, as revealed by Marcelina Zielinska, Director of the Board of Directors of the British company Chapman Taylor. Zielinska spoke about this initiative during the III Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum held in Khankendi.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Zielinska provided insights into the restoration and planning efforts underway in Shusha. She explained that the master plan for Shusha is grounded in “Heritage Sensitive Master Planning” principles. This approach aims to blend new development with the preservation of historical monuments, striving for a city that is both aesthetically and economically sustainable.

Zielinska elaborated that the eastern part of Shusha focuses on preserving and restoring historical architectural and cultural heritage elements. Meanwhile, the western part is being developed with modern residential neighborhoods, roads, and new development zones. This strategic division is intended to maintain the city’s historical spirit in the east, while fostering new growth in the west, thereby safeguarding both Shusha’s identity and its future.

She emphasized that the project has involved collaboration between local and international experts, who studied historical documents, archival photos, and architectural examples. This comprehensive process was conducted with the participation of numerous experts, adhering to international standards.
