CAIRO — Tina Stege, the Special Envoy for Climate Change Issues from the Marshall Islands, stressed the importance of active participation by all nations in addressing climate financing during COP29.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Stege’s comments were made during the Climate and Development Ministerial Conference, part of the preparatory events leading up to COP29. She emphasized that the responsibility to combat climate change extends beyond governmental bodies to include non-governmental organizations and international financial institutions. “The key issue here is that the parties participating in COP29 should fully recognize this responsibility in order to achieve a common outcome in the field of global climate financing,” Stege asserted.
Stege called on each participating nation to not only engage actively but also present well-defined strategies for climate financing. She highlighted that the global challenges posed by climate change demand effective financing solutions that can only be realized through comprehensive international cooperation and commitment at the upcoming conference.
