Baku: Media accreditation is now open for the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), the United Nations' largest global conference on sustainable urbanization, APA reports. The event is scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 17 to 22 May 2026, under the theme 'Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities.'
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, WUF13 will bring together global leaders to tackle the housing crisis impacting nearly 3 billion people worldwide. Convened by UN-Habitat and co-organized with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Forum will host heads of state, ministers, mayors, urban experts, civil society, and the private sector. The focus will be on exploring how cities can foster solutions for adequate housing, inclusion, and climate resilience.
WUF13 presents a unique opportunity for media professionals to cover high-level global debates influencing the future of urban environments. Journalists attending the event will have access to high-profile speakers, including ministers, mayors, and UN leaders, for interviews and commentary. There will also be dedicated media zones for live broadcasts and remote reporting, along with press briefings by national and local governments and UN officials.
The event promises behind-the-scenes access to key sessions and discussions, offering opportunities to engage with exhibitors showcasing innovative urban and housing solutions. Media representatives must apply for accreditation through UN-Habitat's official registration system at events.unhabitat.org. Applications sent by email or post will not be processed. Accreditation is reserved for professional journalists and media personnel from bona fide media organizations legally registered in a UN Member State. All applications will be reviewed, and approved applicants will receive an official confirmation letter.
