Baku: A member of the 'Everything's 13' organization, Ranveer Singh, addressed an international conference in Baku titled 'Racism and Violence Against Sikhs and Other Minorities in India: The Reality on the Ground,' where he discussed the historical violence against Sikhs in India. Singh recounted that the first organized protests by Sikhs against the Indian state began in the 1950s, focusing on demands for linguistic recognition of Punjabi, a right that had been extended to all other states of India. He highlighted that despite the peaceful, democratic, and constitutional nature of these actions, Sikhs faced arrests, beatings, and killings, marking a turbulent chapter in the relations between the Sikh community and the Indian state.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ranveer Singh revealed that more than 60,000 Sikhs were arrested during that period for participating in peaceful protests. Singh's remarks at the conference aimed to shed light on the historical and ongoing challenges faced by Sikhs and other minorities in India.
