Baku:Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), emphasized the essential role of a culture of peace in preventing war. His remarks were made during the plenary session entitled 'Culture at the Centre SECUREd Pathways to a Shared Future' at the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Moratinos acknowledged the leadership of Azerbaijan and its Ministry of Culture for proposing the 'Culture for Peace' initiative, describing it as an innovative concept. He highlighted that from the United Nations' perspective, this was a significant development rather than a challenge, as the UN and UNESCO had already conceptualized a 'Culture of Peace.'

Moratinos further stressed the necessity of fostering a culture of peace as a preventive measure against war.
