Minister Announces Trkiye’s Strategic Shift Towards Nuclear Energy

Baku: Trkiye will place nuclear energy at the center of its energy strategy, Trkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated during the ministerial-level plenary session held within the framework of the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, developments in global energy markets in recent years have compelled Trkiye to reconsider its approach to energy markets. The minister noted that the country is currently working on a new energy architecture. This strategy includes renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, oil and gas projects, overseas energy investments, and nuclear energy.

'We will place nuclear energy at the very center of our strategy. Electrification will become the main trend in Trkiye,' A. Bayraktar emphasized. He added that Trkiye plans to take a more active role in energy projects in Africa, Libya, Somalia, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

According to the minister, the country also aims to become both a producer and processor of critical minerals, including rare earth elements.
