Minister Highlights Strategic Focus on Development of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur

Baku: Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, emphasized the significant focus on the development of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions at the 'Azerbaijan Investment Outlook Forum', part of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Annual Meetings in Baku. He highlighted the national importance of liberating and reconstructing these areas and facilitating the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Jabbarov expressed satisfaction with the Islamic Development Bank's support, noting that it was the first international financial institution to provide a dedicated credit line for reconstructing an irrigation canal in Karabakh. This initiative underscores the robust partnership between Azerbaijan and IsDB, and Jabbarov acknowledged the significance of such support.

Furthermore, Jabbarov outlined the Azerbaijani government's efforts to attract investors to the liberated territories by offering extensive tax incentives, developing modern infrastructure, and providing state support. Two major industrial parks are currently operational in these areas, enhancing economic activity and investment opportunities.

In addition to these efforts, the Minister mentioned the implementation of a similar preferential logistics regime in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a unique region of Azerbaijan that shares borders with Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Armenia.
