Baku: Azerbaijan's Finance Minister Sahil Babayev recently met with a delegation from the World Bank's Livable Baku project team. The meeting focused on the collaboration between the Azerbaijani Government and the World Bank Group concerning the Livable Baku Project, which is currently in preparation. This project aims at sustainable urban development, ecological resilience, and the promotion of green infrastructure.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Sahil Babayev emphasized that the partnership with the World Bank is crucial in supporting Azerbaijan's socio-economic development and deepening institutional reforms. The Livable Baku Project is seen as strategically important for enhancing Baku's environmental conditions, boosting climate resilience, and promoting sustainable urban development.

The project includes plans for renovating urban infrastructure, improving solid household waste management, rehabilitating polluted areas, and strengthening urban governance systems. The Minister stressed a phased and prioritized approach for the project's implementation, with ongoing preparatory work in close coordination with the World Bank. He also expressed gratitude for the support received.

The World Bank delegation acknowledged the progress in urban planning and climate-oriented reforms in Azerbaijan. They suggested that the Livable Baku Project could serve as a model for modern urban development and ecological transformation. The meeting also covered potential cooperation on other infrastructure and social initiatives, such as regional road infrastructure and employment support programs.

Both parties highlighted the need for enhanced institutional coordination, better technical preparation, and ensuring long-term sustainability in the project's future stages.
