Minister of Energy Engages in Strategic Talks with Venezuela and Iran Officials

Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov conducted significant discussions with Cindy Rond³n, Venezuela's Vice Minister of Gas at the Ministry of People's Power for Hydrocarbons, and Saeed Tavakoli, Iran's Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company. The meetings aimed to bolster energy ties and explore collaborative opportunities in the oil and gas sectors.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, during the meeting with Deputy Minister Rond³n, both parties stressed the importance of international forums and OPEC+ cooperation in fostering energy relations between Azerbaijan and Venezuela. They acknowledged the anticipated rise in global energy demand in the coming decades and underscored the necessity for collaboration among energy-producing nations. Specific opportunities in the oil and gas sector were examined to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The Venezuelan delegation highlighted their nation's substantial oil and gas reserves, pointing out potential avenues to develop new fields and expand offshore projects. They also expressed interest in partnering with international energy companies. Azerbaijan reciprocated by sharing its considerable experience in the hydrocarbons sector. The discussions included potential collaboration between their state energy companies, focusing on specialist training, inter-university exchanges, and human resource development.

In a separate meeting with Deputy Minister Tavakoli, the dialogue centered on the oil, gas, and electricity dimensions of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran. The officials reviewed the execution of joint projects and deliberated on further developing energy ties within the framework of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
