Baku: Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev highlighted a significant concern regarding children's information sources at the recent presentation ceremony of the research report titled 'Legal Awareness of Adolescents in Azerbaijan' and the book 'Children and Law'. The event, reported by APA, revealed that half of the children obtain their information from social media, which the minister described as a more risky platform.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Amrullayev emphasized the inevitability of children's preference for electronic formats over traditional textbooks. He stated that as a society, distancing children from electronic media would hinder progress. The minister pointed out that in the near future, children will have even more opportunities for electronic learning, and it is crucial to embrace this reality rather than restrict it.
The minister also noted a rise in the number of alternative learning sources, stressing the importance of their proper regulation and integration into the educational system. He cited research indicating a correlation between exposure to fairy tales and academic success, particularly in mathematics. However, he lamented that modern parents often lack the time to engage in storytelling or interactive activities with their children, which could potentially impact their development.
