Baku: The Ministry of Health has issued a public appeal regarding the introduction of a new flu vaccine in Azerbaijan. The vaccine, which has been brought into the country by the Ministry, is set to be widely distributed and administered across the nation, as announced by Zakir Guliyev, a specialist-expert at the Ministry of Health.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the vaccine’s safety has been endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is produced in France. It is recognized as the most widely used flu vaccine globally. Parents are encouraged to vaccinate their children, particularly those over six months old, as young children are susceptible to severe flu symptoms, including pneumonia, due to underdeveloped immune systems. The recommendation is to start vaccinations at six months of age to prevent rapid infection spread among children.

Zakir Guliyev also advised that vaccinations should be postponed during any ongoing illness. Vaccination is advisable only after full recovery when symptoms have subsided. To date, no serious adverse effects have been reported from the vaccine, although mild reactions such as redness and fever may occur. Additionally, individuals with allergies, particularly to eggs, are advised against receiving the flu vaccine.
