Baku: Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with visiting Diego Martnez Belo, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, the Press Service of the MFA told APA. The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Spain, highlighting the importance of political dialogue and cooperation in various sectors including economic, energy, tourism, transport, humanitarian, and cultural fields, alongside regional issues.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the foundation of relations with Spain on principles of friendship and mutual respect. He underscored the importance of strengthening political dialogue and enhancing cooperation within international organizations. The discussions referenced significant meetings between the leaders of the two countries that took place in Baku last November during COP29 and in Tirana this May.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister described the inaugural session of the Azerbaijan-Spain Strategic Economic Dialogue, held in Baku this March, as a pivotal platform for fostering bilateral cooperation. The dialogue aims at advancing collaboration in energy security, green energy, and transport and communications projects.
Jeyhun Bayramov provided insights into the new regional realities that have emerged in the post-conflict period, discussing the peace process, the outcomes of the historic Washington meeting, and Azerbaijan’s initiatives aimed at sustainable development and lasting regional stability. International and regional matters of mutual interest were also on the agenda.
Additionally, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Spain took place on the same day. The delegations, led by Fariz Rzayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and Diego Martnez Belo, discussed enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation in diverse arenas.
