Baku: In a recent panel discussion at WUF13, Adib Benbrahim, State Secretary for Housing Affairs at the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy of Morocco, emphasized that housing policy is a top priority for the state. The discussion, titled 'Housing for Social Inclusion and Poverty Eradication,' highlighted the significant role housing plays in social stability and poverty reduction.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Benbrahim pointed out that poverty severely limits access to essential services, making housing a critical component for achieving social stability. He noted that housing expenses consume a substantial portion of middle-income citizens' earnings, which in turn restricts their ability to afford other necessities such as healthcare and education.

The official underscored that housing policy is a primary tool for alleviating poverty in Morocco. Within the framework of a public-private partnership social housing program, the country has successfully provided housing units for 720,000 families.

Benbrahim also highlighted the importance of long-term planning and innovative financing mechanisms in promoting social inclusivity through state policies. He emphasized that housing extends beyond mere accommodation and is a fundamental condition for economic and social integration.
