Baku: The mother of Azerbaijan’s National Hero Panjali Teymurov, Mrs. Vahima, has sent a letter of gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports. Mrs. Vahima expressed her appreciation to the head of state for conferring the title of National Hero upon her son.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter from Mrs. Vahima was addressed to President Ilham Aliyev, recognizing the honor bestowed upon her son, Panjali Nurmammad oglu Teymurov. She conveyed her and her family’s deep gratitude for awarding her son the title of ‘National Hero of the Republic of Azerbaijan’ posthumously, acknowledging the bravery he demonstrated during the April battles. This recognition was something the family had anticipated for nine years.
In her letter, Mrs. Vahima highlighted the care and attention shown by President Aliyev to the families of martyrs, which is appreciated by the people of Azerbaijan. She conveyed her wishes for the President’s long life and good health, expressing a hope that his presence would never be absent from the lives of the people.
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on November 7, 2025, posthumously awarding warrant officer Panjali Nurmammad oglu Teymurov the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. Warrant officer Teymurov, who served in the Special Forces, lost his life in the April battles of 2016.
