Baku: Murat Kurum, Turkey's Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President-Designate, emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the implementation of commitments made at COP29, particularly the Baku Finance Goal. In a video message to participants of the World Environment Day event in Baku, Kurum highlighted the significance of cooperation and achieving tangible results during COP31.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Kurum stressed that the world is looking for action rather than new promises, underscoring the necessity for all societal segments to engage in the process. He stated that COP31 should serve as a platform for shared responsibility and solid partnerships, involving various stakeholders such as governments, local authorities, the private sector, academia, youth, women, civil society, and the financial world.
Kurum extended an invitation to the event participants to attend COP31 in Antalya, scheduled for November. He expressed eagerness to host the international community in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of climate diplomacy and concrete action in the fight against climate change.
