Baku: The Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) have solidified their collaborative efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on September 16. The agreement, aimed at fostering cooperative endeavors between the two parliamentary bodies, was formally signed by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis and Chairperson of the NAM PN, alongside Fateh Boutbig, President of the PAP.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that the newly signed document is expected to enhance the collaboration between the NAM PN and PAP, serving as a foundation for further joint initiatives. The meeting underscored the pivotal role of the Pan-African Parliament in facilitating interparliamentary dialogue within the African continent, as well as in promoting collaborative efforts and shared developmental ambitions among its member states.

The Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker reiterated the Milli Majlis's commitment to strengthening ties with African parliaments, highlighting the significance of parliamentary diplomacy and interparliamentary connections. She also emphasized the importance of bolstering political dialogue as part of these efforts. Additionally, Gafarova commended the development of bilateral relations with Algeria, acknowledging that PAP President Fateh Boutbig is also a member of the Algerian Parliament.

Fateh Boutbig, on his part, stressed the increasing importance of parliamentary diplomacy and expressed the Pan-African Parliament's willingness to engage with international parliamentary organizations and parliaments from various countries. The discussions during the meeting also focused on exploring new avenues for cooperation between the PAP, the Milli Majlis, and the NAM PN.
