Nearly 24,000 Residents Continue to Live in Khankendi, Presidential Representative Reports

Khankendi: Nearly 24,000 people currently reside in Khankendi, as revealed by Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts. This information was shared during an event titled 'Post-Conflict Urban Planning: Restoring Destroyed Identity and Rebuilding an Integrated Future', which took place at the Azerbaijan pavilion during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Yusubov announced that construction of the agriculture faculty of Karabakh University in Khojaly is set to begin next year. Admissions of students are expected to follow in the subsequent years, indicating progress in educational infrastructure development in the region.

Yusubov emphasized that mines have been a significant barrier to the restoration efforts in these territories. He reported that 1,456 hectares in Khankendi, 10,359 hectares in Aghdara, and 9,874 hectares in Khojaly have been successfully cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, underscoring ongoing demining efforts crucial for the area's redevelopment and safety.
