New Azerbaijan Party and Trkiye’s AK Party Explore Enhanced Cooperation Prospects

Baku: Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), recently met with a Turkish delegation led by Krsad Zorlu, Member of Parliament and Deputy Chair of the Executive Board of Trkiye's ruling party (AK Party).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Turkish delegation's visit to Azerbaijan was in connection with an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress. In their discussions, both parties acknowledged the enduring friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, which are considered exemplary on a global scale. This relationship has been strengthened under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, elevating the strategic alliance to new heights.

The meeting emphasized the steadfast support the two nations provide each other, stressing the importance of honoring commitments under the Shusha Declaration to bolster bilateral ties and enhance regional cooperation. Both parties highlighted the importance of the independent policies pursued by Azerbaijan and Trkiye, which align with national interests and international law, in supporting each other on the global stage to achieve mutual strategic objectives.

Further discussions centered on joint initiatives by Azerbaijan and Trkiye that promote regional peace and security, recognizing their unity as a stabilizing influence across a wider geography, including the Turkic world. The meeting also focused on fortifying inter-party relations to improve cooperation among Turkic states, particularly between Azerbaijan and Trkiye as strategic allies. The successful implementation of the June 2, 2021 Cooperation Protocol between YAP and the AK Party was noted, along with discussions on shared goals and future directions in the face of current challenges.

Krsad Zorlu extended an invitation to YAP representatives to attend the first 'Turkic World Diplomacy and Politics Forum' in Trkiye, highlighting the importance of reciprocal visits for exchanging ideas and experiences between the parties.
