President Ilham Aliyev Reviews Reconstruction Efforts in Khojavand City, Engages with Residents

Khojavand: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Arzu Aliyeva reviewed the works carried out in Khojavand city. The head of state and the First Lady were informed about the progress of reconstruction efforts in the city.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Khojavand city was under Armenian occupation since 1992 and was liberated in September 2023 following an anti-terror operation by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The President had raised the State Flag in Khojavand city on October 15 of the same year, marking a significant milestone in the region's history.

The district of Khojavand spans 1.51 thousand square kilometers and is home to 12,500 people. It comprises 1 city, 2 settlements, and 80 villages. President Aliyev was briefed on the status of individual houses in Khojavand city after extensive renovations. Of the 980 individual houses, 133 are unfit for use, while 847 are partially fit, with 55 already ready for habitation. Plans are underway to repair 792 houses within the year.

Notably, 50 families, totaling 194 individuals, have recently returned to Khojavand city. Since September last year, 1,485 people, representing 355 families, have returned to five residential settlements in Khojavand, including Khojavand city, Girmizi Bazar settlement, Sos village, Hadrut settlement, and Khojavand village.

In a gesture of community engagement, President Ilham Aliyev, along with the First Lady and their daughter, visited the home of Ilgar Hasanov, a resident who has returned to Khojavand city, where they held a conversation.
