Baku: New sales rules have been proposed for fisheries products in Azerbaijan, aiming to regulate the commercial circulation of these products. Only fisheries facilities that comply with the requirements of regulatory legal acts in the fields of fisheries, food safety, and livestock breeding will be permitted to engage in commercial activities, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed regulations are part of the new draft Law on Fisheries, which was discussed during a session of the Milli Majlis. The draft law mandates that fish products must be packaged and labeled in accordance with the Law "On Food Safety." Additionally, when these products are introduced into the market, they must be accompanied by veterinary documents as per the Law "On Veterinary."

Fisheries entities looking to commercialize fish and other aquatic biological resources obtained through fishing or aquaculture activities will need to enter detailed information into the information system designated by the relevant executive authority. This information includes the origin, sex, species, batch quantity, batch weight, and average size of the products. The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in its first reading.
