New york: A 'High-Level Dialogue on Transparency' panel session has been held as part of the Fourth Climate Week of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), APA reports. Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Lead Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev, who spoke at the session, highlighted the importance of the Paris Agreement for uniting countries around common goals in the fight against climate change.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rafiyev emphasized that the true strength and success of the Paris Agreement lie in actualizing the promises made by nations. He stressed the need for countries to demonstrate progress by turning commitments into tangible actions.

Trkiye's Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Fatma Varank, revealed that Trkiye is on track to submit its second Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) under the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement ahead of COP31. Varank underscored that transparency is crucial for building trust in climate policy and noted that Trkiye's experience with its first report has led to system modernization for climate data collection and analysis.

Furthermore, COP30 Executive Director Ana Toni discussed the ongoing transformation in Brazil's energy, agriculture, and transport sectors. She mentioned that Brazil's Ministry of Science and Technology spearheads the preparation of BTRs, highlighting a need for improved methods to measure decarbonization and carbon capture.

COP31 Deputy Executive Director David Higgins stated that Australia plans to support enhanced reporting under the Paris Agreement's Enhanced Transparency Framework in 2026. Higgins pointed out that participation in the ETF allows countries to better evaluate the impacts of their climate policies, identify areas needing further support, and foster stronger climate action.
