Baku: COP29 has successfully united 25 UN agencies, with numerous initiatives already advancing to the implementation stage, according to Dmytro Shlapachenko, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan. He emphasized the significant impact of COP29 during a panel session at the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shlapachenko stated that COP29 has identified numerous concrete areas for climate action, which are set to be implemented over the next five years. He highlighted the importance of hosting such climate gatherings in Baku, expressing gratitude for the cooperation with all participating parties, especially the Azerbaijani government, for its support in organizing the event.
He further noted that the global UN task force established during COP29 has effectively brought together 25 UN agencies, with several initiatives already making significant progress toward implementation.
