Khojaly: On May 22, another resettlement process took place to the city of Khojaly and the village of Ballija in the district. Families relocating to Khojaly and Ballija were presented with the keys to their new homes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the relocation marks a significant step in the ongoing resettlement efforts for former internally displaced persons (IDPs). Mahmud Afandiyev, Deputy Executive Director of the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi city, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, addressed the families, emphasizing that employment issues for those settled in their newly restored homes are being closely monitored. Employment opportunities are being provided by both state institutions and the private sector. The village has been equipped with essential amenities such as electricity, gas, drinking water, and high-speed internet.

Afandiyev expressed the emotional significance of this relocation, stating, “Khojaly, which we have longed for and kept alive in our hearts, is being revived today.” He highlighted that this is not merely a relocation, but a symbol of a patiently awaited victory and return home.

The recent resettlement saw 1 family, consisting of 5 people, moved to the city of Khojaly, while 8 families, totaling 29 individuals, were relocated to the village of Ballija. These families were previously living in temporary accommodations across the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings.

Including this latest resettlement, a total of 180 families, equating to 840 people, have been resettled in Ballija village, with 86 families, or 346 people, now residing in the city of Khojaly. This effort underscores the ongoing commitment to restoring and revitalizing communities in the Khojaly district.
