Baku: On March 17, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum hosted the opening of the solo exhibition by artist Nigar Aliyeva. The opening ceremony saw the presence of notable figures such as Anar Alakbarov, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center, Alena Aliyeva, Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova, and various cultural and art representatives. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Amina Melikova, Director of the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan, highlighted the museum's commitment to supporting contemporary artists since its inception. Despite her young age, Nigar Aliyeva has been an active participant in the art scene for over a decade. Melikova remarked on Aliyeva's unique ability to convey Azerbaijan's national heritage, collective memory, and cultural values through her artwork. She emphasized that such initiatives help present the country's heritage from a fresh perspective, reaching broader audiences and reviving tradition through contemporary art. Deputy Minister Saadat Yusifova commented on the presentation of the "Irevan style" in Aliyeva's work, noting its distinctive and successful artistic execution. Yusifova also spoke about the significance of the Novruz holiday, describing it as a sacred value that bridges the past and future while instilling hope and faith. Nigar Aliyeva shared insights into her two-year-long project development, highlighting her dedication to re-examining the national heritage and introducing Azerbaijani traditions to the younger generation. She expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the exhibition's success and noted that the exhibits displayed were carefully selected to reflect the history and artistic heritage of Azerbaijan. The exhibition showcases Aliyeva's oil-on-canvas works created between 2024 and 2026. Her research led her to explore national cuisine, jewelry, weaving, embroidery, and folk applied arts. Her compositions incorporate ornamental and classical Azerbaijani painting elements, particularly the nuances of Mirza Gadim Irevani's style. Co -organized by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and Arts Council Azerbaijan, the exhibition will be open to the public until March 31.
