Baku: North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova has voiced concerns over the disrespect shown towards her country’s language and constitution, while lamenting the lack of an EU membership offer. She made these remarks during the 12th Global Baku Forum.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Siljanovska-Davkova highlighted the perceived double standards in international responses, comparing the global reaction to the non-recognition of the Ukrainian language to the silence surrounding the disrespect for the North Macedonian language. She emphasized that despite upholding European values, North Macedonia has not been offered EU membership. She expressed concerns that moral boundaries are being violated, which may lead to breaches of physical borders.
The president also addressed the potential consequences of political polarization within the United Nations. She warned that such polarization could lead to decisions driven by political motives amid escalating global crises. She urged for a broad contribution to global consensus to prevent living in a world dominated by misinformation.
