Baku: In January of this year, the total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to foreign countries increased by 4.3%, reaching 154.1 thousand people.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistics Committee reported a significant change in travel patterns, with the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Iran increasing by 36.5%, to Georgia by 15.1%, and to Trkiye by 2.9%. However, there was a notable decrease of 27.3% in the number of citizens traveling to the Russian Federation.
The distribution of Azerbaijani travelers showed that 36.1% went to Trkiye, 15.4% to the Russian Federation, 11.7% to Georgia, 10.7% to Iran, and 26.1% to other countries. Among these travelers, 67.1% were men, while 32.9% were women.
In terms of transportation, 67.7% of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad in January 2025 used air transport, 29.8% opted for rail and road transport, and 2.5% traveled by sea.
