Number of Visitors from China to Azerbaijan Increases by 60%

Baku: Between January and June 2025, 1,217.4 thousand foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is 1.1% less compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the State Statistical Committee, a significant portion of these visitors, 25.8%, came from the Russian Federation, with others coming from countries like Turkey, India, Iran, and Georgia.

According to the data, visitors from China constituted 2.1% of the total, marking a notable increase of 1.6 times compared to the previous year. Additionally, visitors from Israel increased by 1.9 times, while those from Tajikistan rose 1.8 times. Significant increases were also seen from countries such as Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, and others.

The report highlighted that the number of visitors from European Union countries increased by 6.4% to 49.7 thousand people. Conversely, the number of visitors from Gulf countries and CIS countries decreased by 7.0% and 7.3% respectively. Despite these decreases, the overall number of visitors from other countries rose by 5.8% to 558.8 thousand people.

The mode of transport used by the visitors was predominantly air, accounting for 74.3% of the total. Rail and road transport were used by 24.3% of visitors, and a small fraction, 1.4%, traveled by sea.
