Baku: In the first half of this year, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad experienced a minor decline, decreasing by 0.7% compared to the same period in 2024. This brought the total to 988.2 thousand individuals, as reported by APA-Economics, citing the State Statistical Committee.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, there was a notable increase in the number of Azerbaijani travelers to Iran and Georgia, with increases of 14.2% and 25.3%, respectively. Conversely, travel to Trkiye and the Russian Federation saw reductions of 4.3% and 24.6%, respectively.

The breakdown of travel destinations revealed that 38.1% of Azerbaijani citizens traveled to Trkiye, 16.7% to Russia, 11.1% to Georgia, and 10% to Iran, with the remaining 24.1% visiting other countries. Men comprised 66% of these travelers, while women made up 34%.

In terms of transportation, 68.6% of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad chose air transport, 29.3% used rail and road options, and 2.1% traveled by sea.
