Baku: An official welcome ceremony was held for Edgars Rinkevics, President of the Republic of Latvia, marking his visit to Azerbaijan. The ceremony took place on April 22, as the two nations celebrated their diplomatic ties, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a guard of honor was arranged for President Rinkevics in a square adorned with the national flags of both Latvia and Azerbaijan. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev personally welcomed the Latvian leader, underscoring the significance of the diplomatic engagement.
The ceremony featured the chief of the guard of honor reporting to President Rinkevics, followed by the playing of the national anthems of both countries. In a traditional gesture of diplomatic protocol, members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduced to President Rinkevics, while members of the Latvian delegation were presented to President Aliyev.
The event concluded with the guard of honor marching past the two presidents to the accompaniment of a military march. The formal proceedings were capped off with the heads of state posing for official photographs, symbolizing the cordial relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan.
