Baku: The volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan from January to July 2025 reached 5,395 thousand tons, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, oil cargo constituted 48.2% of the total sea cargo during the reporting period.
Seaports in Azerbaijan conducted loading and unloading operations totaling 7,906.7 thousand tons. Of this, 6,399 thousand tons, or 80.9%, were categorized as transit cargo. As of August 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports stood at 338.6 thousand tons.
The report also highlights a 5.7% decrease in the number of passengers transported by sea, with figures dropping to 14.8 thousand people compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
