Azerbaijan’s Oil and Gas Production Decreases by 3.3% Amidst Mining Industry Downturn

Baku: Azerbaijan’s mining industry has reported a total production value of 22,520.9 billion manats in the first seven months of this year, marking a 3.3% decline compared to the same period last year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee’s monthly report highlighted that crude oil and natural gas production accounted for AZN 20,629 million of this total, reflecting a 3.2% decrease on an annual basis.

The report detailed that commodity crude oil production reached 15,996.9 thousand tons, while commodity natural gas production was 22,551 million cubic meters during the reporting period. Notably, commodity crude oil production saw a 5.4% reduction compared to last year, whereas commodity natural gas production experienced a slight increase of 0.2%.

Further analysis of the mining industry showed that the production of metal ores increased significantly by 64.9%, reaching 360.9 million manats. Other sectors of the mining industry also saw growth, with a 13.8% rise to 121 million manats. However, services provided to the mining industry decreased by 16%, amounting to 1,410 million manats. These figures underscore the varied performance within the sector amidst the overall downturn.
