Baku: OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais has underscored Azerbaijan's pivotal role in the global oil industry, acknowledging the city of Baku as the cradle of the global oil industry. His remarks were made during the inaugural meeting of the Technical Committee of the OPEC+ Charter of Cooperation (CoC) held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Al Ghais emphasized Azerbaijan's longstanding position as a pioneer in the oil industry. He highlighted the historic innovations that originated in Azerbaijan, expressing confidence that the current meeting would yield substantial benefits for oil producers, consumers, investors, and the global economy.

Al Ghais also noted the significance of the Charter of Cooperation, signed on July 2, 2019, by OPEC member states and non-OPEC oil-producing countries. He remarked that this charter marked the start of a new era of collaboration, further enhancing the momentum from the success of the Declaration of Cooperation.
