Baku: Work is underway to enable citizens of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to travel mutually using only identity cards without passports, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Secretary General noted that citizens of Azerbaijan and Trkiye can already travel using identity cards without passports. He stated, "We are also working to make this possible with other Turkic states. These countries are Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. We can implement this together, not just with one country."

Omuraliev emphasized that the issue is actively on the OTS agenda, expressing optimism about the progress. "God willing, this is on our agenda. We are talking about five countries: Trkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Preparations are underway to complete the project as soon as possible," he said.

This initiative aims to strengthen ties and facilitate easier movement among the Turkic states, promoting greater cooperation and integration within the region. The move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing regional collaboration and connectivity.
