Ottawa Hosts Event Marking 34th Anniversary of Khojaly Tragedy

Ottawa: An event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy was held in Ottawa, jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Canada and the Fund for Support to Azerbaijan Diaspora.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event saw the participation of Embassy staff, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, the local community, and students studying in Ottawa. The program commenced with a one-minute silence to honor the victims of the Khojaly genocide.

Charg© d'Affaires Vusal Suleymanov addressed the attendees, providing a detailed account of the Khojaly tragedy. He described it as a significant chapter in the systematic policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against Azerbaijanis by Armenians since the early 20th century.

The event featured speeches from members of the Azerbaijani community. Additionally, attendees were shown photographs and a film documenting the events and impact of the tragedy.
