Over 210 Chinese Block Trains Arrive via Middle Corridor, Boosting Regional Trade.

Baku: The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line has played a pivotal role in enhancing Azerbaijan’s position in regional and global freight transportation over the past seven years, as reported by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) to APA-Economics. Since its inauguration, the railway has emerged as a critical component of the Middle Corridor, facilitating increased volume and speed in freight transport.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the BTK line has been modernized this year, achieving a freight capacity of 5 million tons. This development has been instrumental in bolstering trade efficiency and has led to a significant agreement between ADY and Chinese companies for the transport of Chinese-origin goods via container block trains over the BTK line.

ADY reported that over 210 block trains from China have been received through the Middle Corridor this year. The organization anticipates that more than 300 trains will be dispatched by the end of the year, reflecting the growing importance and utilization
of this transportation route.
