Pashinyan: Russia proposed leaving the Karabakh issue for the future, Armenia agrees. This was stated in the Armenian Parliament by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, reporting on the results of the trilateral meeting in Sochi on November 1.

According to him, this is the right approach, since now the parties cannot come to a mutually acceptable status of Karabakh.

“Now it is objectively impossible to find a status that would be mutually acceptable for both sides. To what extent is the policy of the Armenian government consistent with this concept? Completely and 100%,” Pashinyan said.

“It is proposed not to focus on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, in fact, to fix the current situation in the form of a certain status quo and resolve the Armenia-Azerbaijan issue. It’s acceptable,” he continued.

It should be reminded that before the meeting in Sochi, the Armenian side stated that it supported the “Russian version” of the settlement. For unknown reasons, the Armenians decided that this option involves granting a certain status to Karabakh, while the “Washington option” does not. However, in Sochi it became clear that this is a myth.

Pashinyan further said that Azerbaijan had rejected his idea to extend the stay of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh by 10-20 years
