Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes that the entry of the CSTO peacekeeping mission into the Karabakh conflict zone is almost unrealistic.

During a press conference on Tuesday, he said that he doubted the objectivity of some members of the CSTO.

De facto, they are allies of Armenia, but are closer to Azerbaijan, “therefore, their arrival would complicate the situation even more.”

When asked about the extension of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers or the involvement of other forces after the expiration of the Russian mandate, Pashinyan said that this would be clear after 4.5 years of peacekeepers in Karabakh.

He did not rule out the possibility of applying to the UN Security Council to attract an international peacekeeping contingent after the expiration of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers.

“We will have to make decisions based on the current situation at that time. Armenia cannot but extend the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers. But if we see that something threatens the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, we will have to look for other options,” Pashinyan said
