Baku: Passenger capacity on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku trains has seen a significant increase, with a nearly 120% rise in available seats. This enhancement comes as 2 Comfort Class and 5 Standard+ Class coaches have been added to the train composition in phases. The number of passenger coaches, excluding the dining car, has expanded from 6 to 13, elevating the total passenger capacity from 178 to 386 seats.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this augmentation of passenger coaches offers travelers a broader array of travel options, facilitating a larger number of people to utilize the service. The consistently high occupancy rate on this route underscores a growing demand for international rail travel. So far, approximately 23,000 passengers have journeyed on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route, with the trains operating at full capacity.

Demand for travel from Georgia to Azerbaijan is notably strong, with tickets often selling out quickly after release. This trend is particularly prominent during the summer and before public holidays. Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) closely monitors ticket sales, coach occupancy, and passenger traffic to adapt and expand train formations, adding more coaches as needed. This process involves coordination with both Azerbaijani and Georgian railway administrations, ensuring all technical, operational, and safety requirements are met.

ADY prioritizes swiftly increasing available capacity while adhering to safety standards. In the forthcoming days, technical and operational measures are being conducted in collaboration with the Georgian side to introduce more coaches on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route. ADY remains committed to analyzing passenger demand, effectively utilizing resources, and progressively expanding the route's capacity.
