Plenitude Begins Construction on 220 MW Solar Facility in Spain’s Salamanca


VILLARINO DE LOS AIRES: Plenitude has started construction on a significant solar power facility in Villarino de los Aires, located in Salamanca, Spain. This project is poised to be one of the largest solar parks in the Castilla y León region, featuring an installed capacity of 220 megawatts (MW).

According to Trend News Agency, the solar park will span approximately 286 hectares and will connect to Spain’s national transmission grid via a 3.2-kilometer underground medium-voltage line at the Villarino de los Aires junction. The facility will host 365,300 bifacial solar modules and is expected to produce over 400,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually upon its completion in 2025. The project is being developed in collaboration with Sterling and Wilson, a leading photovoltaic construction company, alongside local firms.

Environmental considerations are a priority for the project, with efforts to protect the local landscape. These include the conservation and relocation of rural huts, preservation of
natural water channels, and installation of permeable hunting fences around the site. Plenitude is also working with local farmers to ensure alignment with existing land use.

This new solar plant enhances Plenitude’s footprint in Castilla y León, where it already operates a 13 MW wind farm. The company manages over 440 MW of installed capacity in both photovoltaic and wind energy across Spain, with projects in regions including Galicia, La Rioja, Catalonia, and Murcia.
