Baku: The Georgian government is making strides in establishing new settlements and providing housing solutions for internally displaced persons from the occupied territories, as announced by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. This statement was made during the leaders' session organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted Georgia's longstanding commitment to addressing the humanitarian consequences of war and occupation by offering housing and social support to internally displaced persons. "We continue to establish new settlements and provide apartments to affected families," Kobakhidze stated.
The Prime Minister further explained that the government's housing policy also extends to young families, eco-migrants, and residents living in mountainous regions. Through targeted state programs and innovative financial mechanisms, the aim is to boost housing affordability and create equal development opportunities throughout the country.
Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that reducing the gap between rural and urban areas remains a central focus of Georgia's sustainable development policy.
