Portugal to Open Embassy in Azerbaijan, Enhancing Bilateral Relations

Baku: Portugal has announced plans to establish an embassy in Azerbaijan, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. During a phone conversation on April 1, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Portugal's Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, discussed this development along with other strategic collaborations, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ministers deliberated on the current state and future prospects of cooperation, addressing both regional and international security concerns. Paulo Rangel highlighted Portugal's decision to enhance its diplomatic presence in Azerbaijan by opening an embassy, a move welcomed by Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

The dialogue also underscored the significance of political consultations and mutual visits in fostering bilateral relations. The ministers explored opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors, including economy, energy, trade, transport, and tourism.
