President Aliyev Advocates for Anti-Terror Measures in Context of Middle East

Baku – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in a joint press statement with Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, discussed the recent anti-terror measures taken by Azerbaijan, comparing them to military operations in the Middle East. The statement was made in Baku and reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan exercised patience for nearly three years, engaging both directly with Armenia and through international intermediaries, to address the presence of an illegal separatist regime in part of Azerbaijan. He expressed disappointment over the Armenian government’s decision to maintain a military presence in Azerbaijani territory, influenced by advice from Western advisors.

President Aliyev detailed that Azerbaijan’s patience culminated in a swift, law-abiding anti-terror operation in September, aimed at reasserting sovereignty over its territory, resulting in the collapse of the illegal regime in Nagorno-Karabakh. He emphasized the operation’s adherence to international law and its effectiveness in avoiding civilian casualties, suggesting it as a model for military operations in conflict zones like the Middle East.
