Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, recently hosted a distinguished delegation comprising members and observers from the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), co-organizers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference, and members of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples at an event in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the attendees included esteemed figures such as Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States; Nauryzbay Taganuly, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan; Abdulaziz Zakirov, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan; and several other prominent religious leaders from across the region. President Aliyev warmly welcomed the delegation, highlighting the significance of the 7th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States taking place in Baku, alongside the conference dedicated to the 15th-century poet and thinker, Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi.

In his address, President Aliyev underscored the historical and cultural importance of figures like Sayyid Yahya Bakuvi and other Azerbaijani luminaries, drawing attention to the legacy they left for Azerbaijan and the broader Islamic world. He emphasized Azerbaijan's pivotal role in fostering unity and cooperation among Turkic and Caucasian countries, noting the deep ties shared within these regions.

The President also touched upon the recent history of Azerbaijan, including the liberation of Garabagh from occupation, and the efforts made to rebuild and restore the region. He noted the symbolic significance of the delegation's planned visit to cities such as Aghdam, Khankendi, Khojaly, and Shusha, where they would witness both the destruction caused by the long-term occupation and the ongoing restoration efforts.

President Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to peace and cooperation in the region, highlighting the nation's role as a unifying force within the Turkic and Islamic worlds. He expressed hope for the upcoming Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baku, and the potential for strengthened ties and resolutions among Muslim countries.

The event concluded with speeches from Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, and other distinguished guests, who expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's hospitality and leadership. The meeting ended with a family photo, symbolizing the unity and cooperation among the participating nations.
