President Aliyev Meets Belarusian Delegation to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, on May 19. The meeting highlighted the ongoing cooperation and development of relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev noted Belarus's participation in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) with a high-level delegation. He emphasized the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Belarus, which are built on mutual friendship and active collaboration across various sectors. The importance of interparliamentary cooperation was underscored, alongside the successful economic projects jointly undertaken by the two nations.

Igor Sergeyenko expressed gratitude for the reception and conveyed greetings from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. President Aliyev reciprocated by asking Sergeyenko to deliver his greetings to the Belarusian leader. The Chairman stressed that the personal relationship between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Belarus plays a significant role in enhancing cooperation between their respective governments.

Sergeyenko also attended the opening ceremony of WUF13, noting the event's focus on essential urban planning discussions. He praised Azerbaijan's ability to successfully organize such prestigious international gatherings, highlighting the country's experience in hosting similar events.

The meeting concluded with discussions on the potential for expanding cooperation across various fields and enhancing collaboration between the legislative bodies of Azerbaijan and Belarus.
