Yevlakh: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the ongoing construction of the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex on June 23, APA reports. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov provided the head of state with details on the project’s progress.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the complex is being constructed under the ‘State Programme on Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan,’ which was approved by a presidential decree. The construction work commenced in January 2024.

The main building of the complex will feature a multi-purpose sports hall with a seating capacity for 1,100 spectators, designed to host training sessions and competitions across various sports including basketball, volleyball, handball, minifootball, badminton, gymnastics, judo, wrestling, taekwondo, boxing, karate, and others. Additionally, the facility will house an 80-seat conference hall, rooms for referees, doctors, coaches, and commentators, as well as a caf©. The complex will also include a four-story hotel with 21 rooms for 42 guests and a restaurant. A football pitch adhering to international standards with a seating capacity for 1,300 spectators and two minifootball fields will also be part of the development.

The Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex will host the boxing competitions of the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, which are scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan at the end of September this year.
