Ankara: President Ilham Aliyev has sent a condolence letter to the President of the Republic of Trkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the anniversary of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter conveyed deep respect for the martyrs who lost their lives defending their homeland and expressed condolences to their families and the people of Trkiye. President Aliyev highlighted the significance of the events that unfolded ten years ago, describing it as one of the most tragic yet honorable chapters in Trkiye's modern history. The coup attempt against the statehood and constitutional order was thwarted by the determination and loyalty of the Turkish people.
Aliyev commended Erdogan's leadership and the unity of the Turkish people as key factors in overcoming the coup attempt. He emphasized that under Erdogan's leadership, Trkiye emerged stronger, showcasing its national will and traditions of statehood. The events of that day proved the resilience of the unity between the people and the state, symbolized annually by the "Democracy and National Unity Day" on July 15.
The letter reaffirmed the principle of "One nation, two states," emphasizing Azerbaijan's solidarity with Trkiye during those decisive moments. Aliyev expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship and brotherhood, with an expectation of further development and strategic alliance between the two nations.
