President Highlights Armenia’s Economic Opportunity with Zangezur Corridor

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the economic benefits Armenia stands to gain from the Zangezur Corridor, highlighting the potential for transit fees from transportation. "Today, the Middle Corridor, one of its branches, which goes across the Caspian from Asia, goes from Azerbaijan to Georgia, to Trkiye, and then to Europe, and also to Georgian seaports. This is the only way to connect Asia with Europe through Azerbaijan. So, the Zangezur Corridor, or TRIPP, will provide an alternative route," stated President Aliyev in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev conveyed that the second corridor, passing through Armenia, offers a significant advantage to the nation. He expressed his efforts to communicate this to his Armenian counterpart, emphasizing that Armenia will become a transit country. The President remarked that countries with the potential strive to become transit hubs, citing Azerbaijan's own ambitions to facilitate corridors crossing its territory from east to west and north to south. He noted that due to past occupation, Armenia missed out on such opportunities, but with the Zangezur Corridor, the country will be able to collect transit fees. Aliyev is confident that, considering the increasing volume of cargo from Asia to Europe via Azerbaijan, the Zangezur Corridor will be a crucial transportation link between the continents.
