Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has approved several significant documents aimed at strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, these agreements cover a range of areas, including economic cooperation, defense, energy, customs statistics, and food safety.
President Aliyev signed a decree approving the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkmenistan on the Main Directions for the Development and Deepening of Economic Cooperation.' This agreement sets the framework for enhanced economic collaboration between the two nations.
In another decree, President Aliyev approved the 'Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Field of Defense.' This memorandum signifies a mutual commitment to bolstering defense cooperation.
Additionally, the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Field of Energy' has been approved. This agreement highlights both countries' interest in collaborating on energy-related initiatives.
The President also approved the 'Protocol between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Field of Customs Statistics of Mutual Trade.' This protocol aims to improve the exchange of customs data between the two countries.
Furthermore, President Aliyev signed a decree approving the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the Field of Food Safety.' This agreement focuses on ensuring food safety in mutual trade.
Each of these agreements, protocols, and memoranda was signed in Baku on June 22, 2026.
