Hokmali: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new pharmaceutical production facility owned by Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd in the Hokmali settlement of the Absheron district.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the facility was designed to meet international standards and is equipped with advanced technology from Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. The enterprise is set to produce around 800 million tablets and capsules annually, covering a range of therapeutic areas such as antibiotics, diabetology, hepatology, cardiology, andrology, allergology, and gastroenterology. The products will serve the domestic market with plans for future export. The facility has created 120 jobs.

The project, valued at 74 million manats, was realized through private investment. With the investment promotion document from the Ministry of Economy, the company gained 6.5 million manats in concessions for imported equipment.

The facility’s launch marks a significant development in Azerbaijan’s pharmaceutical industry, as all stages of medicine production will be carried out locally. This initiative is expected to bolster the pharmaceutical sector, support local production, and enhance Azerbaijan’s export potential by manufacturing competitive products that meet both domestic and international standards.

Additionally, the facility will act as a training hub for professionals in the pharmaceutical field. A Memorandum signed among Scandens Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Azerbaijan Medical University, Hungary’s University of P©cs, and Pannon Pharma company outlines plans for training and internship programs for pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical specialties.

President Ilham Aliyev officially launched the facility, which features 710 solar panels with a combined capacity of 450 kW/h. These panels will enable the facility to source approximately 40 percent of its energy consumption from renewable sources.
