Ganja: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Ganja Bus Depot owned by BakuBus LLC.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the inauguration event took place on September 27, where Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev provided details on the facilities available at the depot.

Construction of the bus depot began in January and spans 10 hectares. It includes technical inspection and repair stations, an automated fuel accounting system, and a washing facility capable of servicing 60 buses per hour. The depot’s establishment has created 675 jobs, encompassing 553 drivers and 122 administrative and technical staff.

BakuBus LLC plans to operate 18 existing and two new bus routes within Ganja. The city has received a total of 280 EURO6-standard buses, comprising 45 buses with a capacity of 54 passengers, 186 with a capacity of 63 passengers, and 49 with a capacity of 102 passengers.

This development is crucial for modernizing Ganja’s public transportation system, facilitating passenger travel, renewing the transport fleet, and supporting job creation. The route network in Ganja has been restructured, with optimization efforts focusing on the existing 32 routes, narrowing them down to 22 for operation.

Another significant feature is the implementation of advanced digital technologies in public transport. All buses in the city are now equipped with the ‘CityCard’ cashless payment system, which allows payments through any bank card or mobile payment method.

Additionally, a Transport Interchange Hub has been established in front of the Railway Station to integrate rail and road transport services. The city has also installed 34 modern bus stop pavilions in high passenger density areas.

Efforts to enhance road infrastructure included asphalt resurfacing on 97 streets and completion of 128 kilometers of road markings. Micromobility lanes are being identified, and 10 dedicated taxi stops have been set up across Ganja.
